Optional Practical Training  (OPT) Information Session—The first OPT information session for the fall semester will be on Friday, October 1 at 2:30 p.m. in ED 202.  Advisors will give a general overview of OPT and explain the application process.  If you are graduating in December, you should plan on applying for OPT in October.  If you are unable to attend the session on October 1, there is a second session scheduled for November 4 at 12:30.  Please take note that new USCIS fees are effective on November 23, 2010 and the I-765 application fee for OPT will go up from $340 to $380.   Make sure to get your application in early to avoid the increased cost!  Information sessions are open to all F-1 students and we encourage you to attend, especially if you will be graduating in December 2010. 
Fall Leadership Retreat—Registration forms for the 2010 Fall Leadership Retreat are now available.  The Leadership Retreat is a great way for students become involved at UNO, further develop their leadership skills, and brainstorm ways to make a difference at UNO, in the New Orleans Community, and globally.  The Retreat is from October 22-24 and is only $10.00.  Registration forms are available in the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership, MH 159.
Got Soccer Skills?—The World Cup Soccer Tournament will be presented by the International Student Organization on Sunday, October 17 from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at the UNO East Campus Soccer Fields.  This event is a chance for you to show off your soccer skills and enjoy a day of fun competition with student teams.  It is a coed 8-on-8 tournament; registration will be $10 per player and each team can have between 8 to 12 players. Walk-in consultations are for quick 10-15 minute discussions. You will receive assistance on a first-come, first-served basis.
