•  OPT Information Session - The last OPT information session for the fall semester will be on Thursday, October 30 at 2:30 p.m. in ED 222. Advisors will give a general overview of OPT and explain the application process. If you are graduating in December, you should plan on applying for OPT in October or early November. Information sessions are open to all F-1 students and we encourage you to attend, especially if you will be graduating in December 2014.


•  Got Soccer Skills?— The World Cup Soccer Tournament will be presented by the International Student Organization on Saturday, October 11 from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the quad. This event is a chance for you to show off your soccer skills and enjoy a day of fun competition with student teams. It is a coed 8-on-8 tournament; registration will be $10 per player and each team can have between 8 to 12 players. Anyone is welcome to participate. •  New Orleans Seafood festival

The New Orleans Seafood Festival will take place from October 10th through October 12th and it will be held at the City Park Festival Grounds. The event is free, and features live entertainment, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, local arts and crafts, and world-famous cuisine from top New Orleans restaurants and caterers. 

The hours are:

•  Friday, October 10 –11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

•  Saturday, October 11 – 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

•  Sunday, October 12 – 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

•  Weekly Walmart Trip

The BCM is providing a free trip to Walmart for international students every Friday at 12:30 pm. If you would like to go, please email Kimberly Myers ( sometime during the week before Friday.

Walk-in consultations are for quick 10-15 minute discussions. You will receive assistance on a first-come, first-served basis.
