OPT Information Session - The last OPT information session for the fall semester will be on Thursday, October 25 at 2:30 p.m. in ED 205. Advisors will give a general overview of OPT and explain the application process. If you are graduating in December, you should plan on applying for OPT in October or early November. Information sessions are open to all F-1 students and we encourage you to attend, especially if you will be graduating in December 2018. Travel and Re-entry Session - The OISS will hold a travel and re-entry information session on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. in the International Center Student Lounge. UNO Federal Credit Union Workshop – Wednesday, October 3 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. As part of the OISS Fall Workshop Series for 2018, the Credit Union will present on “Services and Strategies – Basics of Banking in the U.S.” in the International Center Lounge. The banking system may seem complicated, confusing and sometimes baffling. In reality, it isn't at all. UNO Federal Credit Union's program will provide you with basic details on financial services and products that you need to know to bank successfully and establish a flourishing financial future. T he Credit Union will also be providing pizza and drinks for this event.
Fulltime enrollment - Just a friendly reminder that F-1 and J1 students are required to register full time for each term. You must have at least 12 credit hours if you are an undergraduate student and 9 credit hours if you are a graduate student to remain full time and in status. You are also required to be registered full time the entire semester.
Online Classes – No more than the equivalent of one on-line class or 3 credits per semester may count towards the “full course of study” requirement. This means that undergraduate students must have a minimum of 9 credit hours on-site and graduate students must have a minimum of 6 credit hours on-site. Traveling outside the U.S during the semester – All international students should plan to travel outside the U.S during academic breaks and not during the Fall and Spring semesters while classes are in session. Traveling outside the U.S (two weeks or more) during the semester for personal/medical reasons will not be allowed without written permission from all your professors. If you are a graduate student you will also need permission from the Graduate School.
